Learning Circle

In studying General Psychology, we are enlighten in all approaches that we've been tackled. The sharing of thoughts and experiences, perception and our feelings in every learning circle. On that part we found out  the essence of the study of  PSYCHOLOGY. As individual, I understand why some people do critics or discriminating a person. Sometimes we really need to experience those difficulties. Instead of losing your head over something that goes wrong, discover that obstacle could work to your advantage. And according to the Philosophy of TAO "what appears to be real  may be unreal, what looks full may really be empty, what seems to be weak is actually strong. For this semester, I'm hoping it will help to all of us to overcome the trials coming and  always looking at your back, stay your feet on the ground. Thank you and Congratulations! You made us to be a better person. More power and God Bless!!!

Summary

           General Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. It includes what we are doing in actions and speech, but also our thoughts, feelings, perceptions, reasoning processes, and memories and even the biological activities that keep our bodies functioning.
The most amazing part of our body is our brain and its component neural system. Neural and chemical processes are important to our understanding of the relationship between the brain and behavior. The biological approach assumes that the mind is ultimately a product of the brain, with a physical basis. This assumption is often referred to as materialism. At the same time, no one can explain how mind and brain are connected, despite the progress made in understanding more basic function. The nervous system consist of billion of individual cells called neurons. A neurons receive signals from other neurons through its branching dendrites and all body, and transmit an electrical impulse down its axon. When these signals reach the end of the axon, they stimulate the release of chemical messenger called neurotransmitter. The drugs of special interest in studying consciousness, however, are those that interact with the central nervous system to alter a person’s mood, perception, mode of thinking, and behavior – the psychoactive drugs. All psychoactive drugs alter consciousness, but different forms  of the drugs affect the body in different ways. I was enlighten that the hereditary behavior of parents to child is not really mean for me. If our parents doing something wrong or having bad influences the way they discipline in front of us, instead of questioning about the their lifestyle we can divert our emotions into things that we can help to cope and we can perceive those problem with them.
Behaviorist approach is basic to our understanding of human behavior. Its about what we have learned and how to response in any obstacle we experience example  how to memorize information to help us pass an exam. The law effect is a principle of learning developed by Edwin Thorndike, stating that any response which leads to a satisfying outcome for the organism is likely to be repeated, and any response which leads o an unpleasant outcome is not likely  to be repeated.
Imagine our life without memory. There would be no savoring remembrances of joyful moments, no guilt or misery over painful recollections. Memory is any indication that learning has persisted over time. Memory is regarded as having three separate stages – sensory memory, short-term memory (STM) and long-term memory. Each stage has distinctive characteristics, with transfer between stages dependent on attention, rehearsal and coding.
Motivation is a need or desire that serves to energize behavior and to direct it toward a goal. As a student, I entered here in UCC to enhance my knowledge and to fulfill my dreams. Consider motivation in these situation. Freud’s theory of personality accounts for behavior in terms of dynamic relationships of the id, ego and superego.

Biological Approach

In every idea, every mood, and every urge is a biological happening. We are enlighten how does our mind connected to brain. So that we can think, feel, and act with our body. We've also learned the significance of the nervous system to mind, brain, and body. Brain is the center of the thought and nervous system control to influence the body to our behavior and activities. Drug is a substance used as medicine to cure those person are not in good health, those person who are suffering serious disease or to boost the immune system according to the needs of our internal and external body system. Unfortunately,  some drugs can cause of addiction or a marked change in mental status if we didn't take it in a proper way of medication. The most commonly used drug is alcohol. Alcohol has the ability to transform a collection ill-at-ease strangers into laughing or boisterous group of friends. Alcohol is the depressant that suppresses nerve impulse. It shows down the ability to think critically and can also influence the behavior. Drinkers may have great difficulty remembering the names of their companion even what they doing or memory loss of the event. Stimulants are drugs that produce physiological and mental arousal. They can decrease fatigue, increase talkativeness and physical activity, enhance endurance, diminish appetite and produce a state of alertness. Examples of these are caffeine, nicotine, amphetamine etc. To understand the importance of drugs mentally, physically, psychologically and emotionally, we don't need to get abuse or too much applying because it will affect to our behavior and it is proven that it can cause brain brain damages result to coma or death.
